Roxanne's Fine Cuisine

Some of you might remember the ultra gourmet raw food restaurant in Larkspur, Roxanne's. I had only dined there once and loved it. However, it closed in 2004 before I could get back there again. Now, years later, Roxanne is back and with her own line of prepared foods: Roxanne's Fine Cuisine. The line currently offers 34 items and includes trail mix, granola, sandwiches, cheeses, hummus, snacks, ice creams and cake. All are vegan, dairy- and wheat-free and sweetened with agave nectar, barley malt, maple syrup or honey. None have been "cooked" beyond 118 degrees, the temperature at which raw food can be heated or dehydrated and still retain its healthful enzymes.
I was at the San Rafael Whole Foods yesterday and had a chance to sample of few of her products. I tried the ice cream, granola, salad and sprouted nut hummus. They were all fantastic, but the sprouted nut hummus was my absolute favorite! If you are looking for a healthy snack or lunch on the go, her products provide a nice alternative to a regular green salad. Prices range from $6.99 to $8.99, which is a great value considering the ingredients used. Initially the line will be carried by Whole Foods, Andronico's, Paradise Goods, Woodland's Market and Good Earth, with expansion plans to go nationwide.
