Cleaning Tip of the Week

The clogged drain - While there are several non-toxic drain cleaners on the market, some of the best ones are the ones you can easily make at home. Here' a few to try:

Baking Soda-Based Drain Cleaner
1/2 cup baking soda
1/2 cup of salt
1/8 cup of cream of tarter
Boiling water

Mix dry ingredients together and pour down the drain followed by boiling water. Repeat until clear.

Vinegar-Based Cleaner
1 cup of vinegar
1/2 cup of baking soda
Boiling water

Dissolve baking soda and vinegar in boiling water: pour the solution down the drain. Cover it with a drain plug for several minute and flush with hot tap water until clog breaks.

Salt-Based Cleaner
1/2 cup of salt
Boiling Water

Pour salt down the drain, followed by boiling water; flush with hot tap water.
